New information booklet for people going to work abroad and for returnees

The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy released a mini pocket booklet intended to provide safety guidelines when going to work abroad as well as information which may prove very useful when planning a return.

The Institute of Public Affairs releases the results of the study on integration of the Asian immigrant communities in Poland

Photo: Office for Foreigners The Institute of Public Affairs have published three reports summarizing the findings of the research project entitled "The study on integration of the Asian immigrant community in Poland". The project was aimed at increasing knowledge and understanding of realities faced by migrants from China and Vietnam living in Poland and at determining their integration needs.

Poland ratified the local border traffic agreement with the Russian Federation

On 14 May 2012, the Act of 16 March 2012 on the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Polish Republic and the Government of the Russian Federation on local border traffic (LBT) entered into force which means that the ratification of the LBT agreement with Russia on the Polish side has been finalized.

  • The 2011/2012 edition of the postgraduate studies in Contemporary International Migration was completed

    The final meeting of this year's edition of the postgraduate studies in Contemporary International Migration was held on 14-15 April. The course was co-organized by the Centre of Migration Research and was intended for the Border Guard officers and representatives of governmental institutions dealing with migration issues, including the Office for Foreigners, Migration Policy Department and the Department of the European Union and International Cooperation at the Ministry of the Interior, National Labour Inspectorate as well as the Implementing Authority for European Programmes.
  • Global trends in flows of asylum seekers in 2011

    The latest report of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) shows that asylum claims in industrialized countries (27 countries of the European Union, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Montenegro, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Macedonia, Turkey, as well as Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the Republic of Korea and the US) rose by 20% in 2011 (441.300 asylum claims recorded in 2011, compared to 368.000 in 2010).
