Slovenia increases the number of soldiers on the border with Croatia

Slovenia sent 35 soldiers of the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) in order to protect the Schengen border with Croatia. Currently there are 66 members of SAF.

According to the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Slovenia, Karl Erjavec, the armed forces sent on the border are intended to help the police units to deal with the number of illegal crossing of the border.

Strenghtening the border protection happend after the protests in Cernomelj, town located close to the border with Croatia. The protesters called to strenghtening the border and ensuring safety of people living nearby.
