On June 13, Poland is opening borders - only random checks
From Saturday, June 13, Poles will not have to undergo mandatory quarantine after returning to Poland. Also European Union citizens will be allowed to enter Poland without any obstacles. All because Poland endures temporary border controls at the internal borders of the EU introduced in March.
- We decided to open borders. From June 13, the borders will be open to European Union countries - said Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki. - We are currently limiting the decision to EU countries. We need contacts with these countries as soon as possible - we need to return to the previous state - the Prime Minister added.
On the night of 12/13 June, Poland restores full border traffic within the internal borders of the European Union. From now on, the services present at the border will carry out random checks. Exactly as it was before the coronavirus pandemic and the introduction of border restrictions in Poland.
This means that from Saturday 13 June you will be able to travel freely and cross the internal borders of the European Union. Travelers will regain the right to free entry, exit and transit through the territory of the Republic of Poland. They will not have to quarantine. Countries neighboring Poland have already been informed about the Polish movement. Thanks to this, they have time to prepare for changes.
However, the EU's external borders remain closed.
The deadline for opening borders is as recommended by the European Commission
The European Commission recommended that the internal border controls in the EU be lifted from June 15, 2020. Poland acts in accordance with these recommendations.
